Mezcales Cuish is made up of rural producers that are dedicated to the production and commercialization of traditional Oaxacan mezcal from different regions and agave varieties.
Francisco Garcia Leon and his son Raul work together at their palenque in San Guillermo Miahuatlan de Porfirio Diaz. Francisco plants Mexicano, Espadin, Arroqueno and Tepextate as well as Pacheco and other Karwinskii varieties on various parcels near his home.
While Cuishe was once considered the poor man's agave due to its lower sugar content, woody consistency and plentitude, it is now prized by some producers and consumers alike for its distinct flavor profile.
This batch is a great example of the terroir expressed by a Miahuatlan Cuishe, with notes of minerals and wet earth.
