With over 27 years of experience in the industry, Dr. Rachel Barrie is the Master Blender for Speyside distillery Benriach. Last year, Rachel was the first female Scotch whisky Master Blender to receive an Honorary Doctorate and be inducted into Whisky Magazine’s illustrious ‘Hall of Fame’.
Rachel is responsible for developing, testing and expertly fine-tuning the full spectrum of whisky flavour at Benriach, a creative distillery known for its long-standing tradition of distilling classic, peated and triple distilled whisky and a vast eclectic cask inventory sourced from around the world,
To make Benriach Twelve, Benriach spirit is three cask matured for at least twelve years in sherry casks, bourbon barrels and port casks. The whisky from each cask is then expertly married together to create a smooth, sherry-rich single malt, layered with baked fruit, maple honey and cocoa.
Tasting notes: Maraschino cherry, baked orange and hazelnut with a lingering sultana and spiced mocha finish.
