Barbera from the Shake Ridge Ranch in Amador County at an elevation of 1800 ft, just outside of the town of Sutter Creek. Organically farmed. The grapes were picked before any smoke hit the vineyard from the fires. Fermented 40% whole cluster, native yeast aged 18 months in barrel before bottling.
Notes of: Luxardo cherry, dried lavender, rhubarb, and warm stones. A palate that is bright but earthy, with lively acidity and cobblestone tannins for a round, long finish. This wine brings a packet of seeds to the first date instead of flowers. Which is to say, it's here to make you think, and it's here to play the long game.
